Shikhar’s Apple Orchard Tour programme showcases some of the best Apple Farms in and around the former summer capital of British India, Shimla, and now capital of the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. The tour visits Kotgarh, widely considered as ‘the Apple bowl of India’ and probably ‘the largest Apple estate of India’ located 6500 feet above the sea level.

Once a poverty stricken region Kotgarh is today one of the wealthiest region of Himachal, thanks to the Apple bounty. The tour also visits the famous Stokes Farm, named after American Samuel Stokes who introduced Apple cultivation in the region. The Apple Orchards of Sangla Valley and Kalpa, famous for delicious Kinauri Apple, are other key stopovers.

Also on the tour, visit the 1857 neo-Gothic ‘Christ Church’; hike to Tani Jubbar and savour the rich history and colonial architecture of Shimla, an integral part of India’s historical timeline and venue of ‘Shimla Conference’ in 1945 or the decision to carve out Pakistan in 1947.
