NubraÃ‚Â Valley lies to the north of Leh. The ShyokÃ‚Â River meets the NubraÃ‚Â or SiachanÃ‚Â River and forms a large valley that separates LadakhÃ‚Â from the Karakoram Ranges. Currently, the only road access to the NubraÃ‚Â Valley is via KhardungÃ‚Â La which is the highest motorableÃ‚Â road in the World. PanamikÃ‚Â and SumurÃ‚Â are small towns of the NubraÃ‚Â Valley. PanamikÃ‚Â has hot sulphur spring water, SiachinÃ‚Â Glacier is approximately 60 kmsÃ‚Â from this point, while Sumur has a Buddhist Monastery.
On the ShyokÃ‚Â River, the main village, DiskitÃ‚Â is located which is home to the DiskitÃ‚Â Monastery. DiskitÃ‚Â GompaÃ‚Â is 350 years old and situated on the highest point near the village where there are about 120 Buddhist Monks Residents.The Hundar Village, also in the NubraÃ‚Â Valley is connected to the Ancient Silk Route. These two villages are also famous for the two humpedÃ‚Â Bactrian camel . Camel ride can be done in DiskitÃ‚Â and Hundar Villages. Apart from the unparallelÃ‚Â trekking opportunities, the valley has several Buddhist Gompas.
