Overview

KalindiKhal Pass Trek is one the most adventures and rewarding trek option in Garhwal Himalaya in Uttarakhand State. Passing over high pass at close to 6000 mt , the trek route crosses many glaciers , lakes and valleys. Combining two sacred Dhams of Gangotri and Badrinath. Kalindikhal Pass Trek offers best of everything. Be it pilgrimage , climbing and experiencing elements of nature at its prime. Places on the trek: Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Gaumukh, Chirbasa, Bojbasa, Gaumukh, Nandanvan, Vashuki Tal, Khara Pather, Rajaparav, Arwa Tal, Mana, Badrinath, Joshimath Kalindikhal Trek starts from Gangotri and takes youfurther Nandavan, the base of the Bhagirathi group of peaks, a place that offers a magnificent view of the Shivling peak. The trek moves on to Vasukital (4900 M). the source of the Vasuki Ganga that drains into the Mandakini. We proceed to cross the Kalindikhal pass (5968 M), The trek then descends to Arwatal and to Mana the last village on the Chinese frontier. The trek ends at Badrinath with a visit to the holy temple.

Kalindi Khal Expedition itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Welcome to India- a country where hospitality is a way of life, to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. Our representative will receive you at Delhi International airport in a traditional manner and assist you for transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: Delhi

Morning after breakfast we will take you for a Heritage Tour through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. Your leader would be your guide who would unfold the colorful history of Old Delhi which goes back thousands of years. Visit Chandani Chowk---Silver Square (Once the centre of Delhi), to the various places of interest- just as the Royal Mughals would have done centuries ago. To name a few are Maulana Azad Tomb, Jama Masjid- India ’s largest mosque, Dariba Kalan (The Silver Bazaar), Kinari Bazaar, Paranthawalla Gali.

You will also visit The Red Fort (Monday Closed) (Delhi's most magnificent monument was built by Emperor Shah Jehan.Some of the buildings it encloses are Diwani-am, Diwani-Khas, Rang Mahal,The Pearl Mosque etc.) and Raj Ghat ( Set in the midst of deep green lawns, Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. A memorial to the father of the nation, Rajghat is a simple square platform with a black memorial stone with "Hey Ram" inscribed on it. "Hey Ram" were the last words uttered by the Mahatma before collapsing after being shot at).

Afternoon proceed for a guided tour of New Delhi covering Rashtrapati Bhawan (is the official residence of the President of India. Formerly the residence of the Viceroy of India, it has a magnificent view of the Rajpath and symmetrical North and South Block Govt. offices), India Gate (is a majestic high arch,42 meters high, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in world war 1).

Post sightseeing return to your hotel. Spend the evening free at leisure. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 03: Delhi – Rishikesh

Morning after breakfast drive (240 Kms) to Rishikesh. Upon arrival check-in the hotel. Evening Arti darshan at Parmath Niketan Ram Jhula. Dinner and for overnight stay in hotel.

Day 04: Rishikesh - Uttarkashi

Morning after breakfast drive to Uttarkashi (175 Kms). Visit Nehru Institude of Mountainneering - Uttarkashi. Afternoon arrive Uttarkashi and check in at hotel for overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 05: Uttarkashi – Gangotri

Morning after breakfast drive (100 kms/5 Hrs.) to reach Gangotri (3048 M) . Upon arrival check-in a Guest House. Afternoon free to relax & get acclimatized. In the evening visit Gangotri Temple.

Day 06: Gangotri – Bhojbasa

Morning after breakfast start first days trek to Bhojbasa (3800 mt.) following the river Bhagirathi on right bank by covering approx 14 kms in 4-5 hrs. Trek is full of fascinating Himalayan sights and you can have beautiful views of snowcapped peaks around. Upon arrival at Bhojbasa, set up camp for overnight stay.

Day 07: Bhojbasa - Gaumukh – Tapovan (4400 M)

Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Gaumukh the Source of Ganges'. The river Bhagirathi emerges from the Gangotri Glacier at Gaumukh. After spending some time at Gaumukh, continue trekking (4 kms /2hrs) to reach Tapovan (4400 mt). Overnight stay in camp.

Day 08: Tapovan - Nandanvan (4500 M)

We retreat back to Gomukh glacier, and then onwards to Nandanvan. The route from Tapovan leads from the upper section of the meadow and down onto the glacier. From Gomukh one turns towards Nandanvan and taking the right hand side, one arrives on top of the Gangotri glacier.

Day 09: Nandanvan (4340M) Tek 10 - 12 kms – Vasu ki Tal

Morning trek (8 km) along Chaturangi Glacier to reach Vasukital (4898 mt). Vasuki Tal is base camp for Mt Satopanth and Mt Vasuki Parbat with a small lake. The trek is steady ascent till Vasuki Tal. On arrival set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 10: Vasu ki Tal - Khara Pathar (Sita glacier)

Morning after breakfast start trek (10 kms / 4 -5 hrs) to reach Khara Pathar base camp (4500mt).Arrive and set the base camp for overnight stay.

Day 11: Khara Pathar - Sweta Glacier (5500 M)

After breakfast, the 700 metres or so walk covering the steep moraine looks deceptively simple, but the altitude makes this ascent an uphill task! The 3 – 4 Kms of the day’s walk take almost 5 -6 hrs to cover. Sweta Glacier at 5500 mts sits on a very windy mountain top and tent pegs are often uprooted and tents lost due to the windy conditions here! Commanding views of the peaks mentioned the previous day are still visible. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 12: Sweta Glacier (5500 M) Trek 4 kms / 5-6 hrs– Kalindikhal Base

After breakfast, trek to reach the outlet of Suralaya valley. On the outside of the Chaturangi glacier is the outlet of Khalipet valley which is surrounded by an unnamed peak P, 6730m. and Mana Parvat. Further it’s a steep and tough trek across the Suralaya glacier and along the northern slopes of Chandra Parvat. Camping place is the left lateral moraine of the Sweta glacier near its junction with the Chaturangi glacier. Overnight in Tents

Day 13: Kalindikhal Base

At Kalindikhal base day free, Overnight stay in camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner.

Day 14: Base - Kalindi Khal (5947 M) - Raj Parav (4910 M)

Today trek is most challenging with steep climb to Kalindi Pass (5947 mt). Spend some time at the spot and then trek down to Rajparav (4910 mt). The descent from the pass is very steep over glacier and ice walls. On arrival at Rajparav, set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 15: Raj Parav - Arwatal (3910 M)

Trek to Arwa Tal, surrounded by the moraine fields of the Arwa Glacier. Exactly north from Arwa Tal is Mana Pass (5600 Meters), which was sought by the first Jesuit explorers to Tibet. It was in 1624 when Antonio de Andrade and Manuel Marques went to Tibet by this route. Overnight in Tents.

Day 16: Arwatal - Ghastoli (3790 M)

Today the terrain changes dramatically, a glacial moraine gives way to the glacial streams, also today’s day is full of river crossing. You shall be crossing rivers including the Saraswati river at times. The vegetation also starts to appear. Arrive Ghastoli and set up camp for overnight stay.

Day 17: Ghastoli – Mana - Badrinath

Start trekking with a gradual descend, the route follows the river Saraswati to down streams. We cross the river just after leaving our camp. Throughout the walk we follow the right bank of the river. The river has its origin from the slopes of Mana pass (5600 meters) leading to Tsaparang in Tibet. Also visible are the peaks of Mt. Kamet (7756 Meters) & Mt. Mana (7272 Meters), former being third highest in Indian Himalayas.

You will be met by the vehicles at Mana and shall be transferred to Badrinath, one of the holiest shrines for Hindus. At Badrinath we shall experience an atmosphere of devoted spiritual pilgrimage. For many Hindus this is an emotional experience. Above Badrinath is the spectacular conical Mt. Nilkantha (6596 Meters), literally meaning “Blue Throat” one of the 1008 names of Lord Shiva.

Day 18: Badrinath - Rishikesh

In the morning after breakfast drive down to Rishikesh. Arrive and check in at hotel. Spend the evening free at leisure.

Day 19: Rishikesh - Delhi

Morning after breakfast, drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival check-into Hotel later in the day leisure or shopping nearby hotel. Overnight Stay in hotel.

Day 20: Delhi Depart

Morning after breakfast, drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival check-into Hotel later in the day transfer to International airport to board flight for onward destination.
