Dzongri Trek

One of the most popular trekking route in West Sikkim region , it offers almost everything making it a trekkers delight. Sunrise over Kanchendzonga range from Tiger Hills. Trek through bamboo bushes and rhododendron forest. Enchanting panoramic view of some of the highest mountain peak of world like Kanchendzonga , Pandim etc.

Day 1: Arrive Kolkata :
Arrive Kolkata and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Kolkata - Bagdogra - Darjeeling :
Fly to Bagdogra and drive 90 km to Darjeeling (2134 mt); the famous tea state of India. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 3: Darjeeling :
Very early morning proceed for excursion to Tiger Hill to witness the Sun rise over Mt. Kanchendzonga Range of mountains. Return to Darjeeling visiting Ghoom Monastery enroute. Enjoy Toy Train ride (now a World Heritage entity). Afternoon sightseeing of Darjeeling.

Day 4: Darjeeling - Pemayangtse - Yuksum :
Drive to Pemayangtse. Visit Pemayangtse Monastery. Later drive to Yuksum (1780 mt) – The oldest capital of Sikkim. Yuksum is the base for Dzongri Trek. Overnight stay in hotel / camp.

Day 5: Yuksum - Bakhim :
Start the first day trek to reach Bakhim (3005 m). Its an uphill trek though dense bamboo bushes and forest. The trek crosses numerous streams enroute.

Day 6: Bakhim - Tsoka - Dzongri :
Trek to Dzongri (4030 m) along a well marked track through thick Rhododendron forest, bamboo bushes. The trek is gradual climb for most part. Dzongri offers fantastic view of Kanchendzonga range of mountains and Mt. Pandim. Overnight stay in trekkers hut / camp.

Day 7: Dzongri - Thangsing :
Trek to Thansing (3800 m). You can have fantastic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabru etc. from the Dzongri Pass. The trek is steep descent in the beginning and gentle ascent till Thansing. The trek passes through Rhododendron bushes. Overnight stay in trekkers hut / camp.

Day 8: Thangsing - Simiti Lake :
Trek to Samiti lake (4200 m). Samiti is a small lake of crystal clear water and the lake is considered sacred by locals.

Day 9: Samiti Lake - Gochala - Samiti Lake:
Trek to Gochala (5000 mt) via Zemathang sand table. The trek passes over boulder and screes with steep ascent to a small pass. After spending some time at Gochala, return to Samiti Lake for overnight stay.

Day 10: Samiti Lake - Dzongri :
Return trek to Dzongri. The trek is easy in the beginning and steep during later part while approaching to Dzongri.

Day 11: Dzongri - Tsoka :
Trek to reach Tsoka (3710 mt). The trek is gradula descent through thick Rhododendron and bamboo bushes.

Day 12: Tsoka - Yuksum :
Trek back to to reach the Yuksum via Bakhim. (End of Trekking).

Day 13: Yuksum - Gangtok :
Drive to Gangtok (1810 m). The present day capital of Sikkim.

Day 14: Gangtok :
Excursion to Rumtek Monastery. Afternoon sightseeing of Gangtok. Visit Tibetology Research Institute, Orchid Sanctuary, Do-drul Chorten and Enchhey Monastery.

Day 15: Gangtok - Bagdogra - Kolkata :
Transfer to Bagdogra airport. Arrive Calcutta and transfer to hotel. Afternoon free at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 16: Depart Kolkata :
Proceed for half day city tour of Kolkata. Afternoon free, evening transfer to international airport to board flight for onward destination.
