Mt. Saramati Peak Trekking Expedition

In Nagaland Saramati hill range is the biggest in the mountain range of Nagaland and is situated on the extreme south east of the state. At 3841 mt , Saramati Peak is highest in Nagaland and it remains snow covered during winter. The mountain range is covered with rich , natural and diverse forests , visible at various altitudes , ranging from sub-tropical ever green and semi ever green to temperate broad leaved and Alpine vegetation. It also has good bio-diversity with natural flora and fauna and various kinds of orchids.

Day 1: Arrive Kolkata :
Arrive Kolkata and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Kolkata-Dimapur – Kohima :
Fly to Dimapur. Met on arrival and drive (74 km) to Kohima. In the afternoon visit to Nagaland Emporium.

Day 3: Kohima - Tuophema :
In the morning visit Vishwema and Kigwema village. Afternoon drive to Tuophema. In the evening enjoy cultural dance and folk song at Tuophema Tourist village.

Day 4: Tuophema - Wokha - Mokokchung :
Drive Mokokchung (1325 mt) - the center of Ao Tribe. Enroute visit Longsa Village(Lotha Tribe) and Longkhim Village (Ao Tribe).

Day 5: Mokokchung :
Day excursion to Mopungchukit village. This village is permanent Mission Centre of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang. Visit time pillar and morung at the village

Day 6: Mokokchung - Tuensang :
Drive to reach Tuensang (1371 mt). Enroute visit Longkhim Village (Sangtam Tribe) and some tribal houses.

Day 7: Tuensang - Kuthur - Noklak - Pengsa :
Depart for Pengshar . Enroute stop at Noklak village which is famous for Slate roof houses and bamboo handicrafts. Later drive to Pangsa which is on the border of India and Myanmar and a designated international trading centre.

Day 8: Pangsa - Chandang Sadal - Kiphire :
Drive to Kiphire via Nokyan which is another beautiful village interesting to see, especially the wooden utensils made locally. Proceed further to Kiphine.

Day 9: Kiphire - Pongru :
Morning visit Kiphire village and different tribal houses around Kiphre. Later drive to Pongru. Pongru is the base for trekking to Saramati Peak.

Day 10: Pongru – Salumi - Thanamir :
Drive to Salumi which is famous for its Natural Caves. It is also base for excursion to Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary. From Salumi.

Day 11: Thanamir - Water Point :
A 4-6 hours walk will take you to Water Point (10 KM) where you will stay for night in camps.

Day 12: Water point - Mt. Saramati Peak - Water Point :
Full day excursion to Mt. Saramati peak (3841 M). The trek to peak is moderate and at two places its very steep requiring some mountaineering skills.

Day 13: Water Point - Thanamir - Salumi - Pongru :
Trek down to Salumi village via Thanamir. From here drive to Pongru village.

Day 14: Pongru - Kohima :
Drive back to Kohima. Enroute stop at Jesumi (in Manipur) where Indian Army stopped Japanese Army’s advance for 5 days before the British Army arrived. On arrival check-into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 15: Kohima :
Day for leisure and independent activities. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 16: Kohima - Dimapur - Kolkata :
Morning after breakfast transfer to Dimapur and fly to Kolkata. Met on arrival and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 17: Depart Kolkata :
Proceed for half day city tour of Kolkata. Afternoon free, evening transfer to international airport to board flight for onward destination.
