Overview

Rajasthan, known as "the land of kings",is the largest state of the Republic of India by area. It is located in the northwest of India. It comprises most of the area of the large, inhospitable Thar Desert. Thar Desert also known as the Great Indian Desert, which parallels the Sutlej Indus river valley along its border with Pakistan to the west. Rajasthan covers 10.4% of India, an area of 342,239 square kilometres (132,139 sq mi) .India's oldest mountain range as the backdrop; feast your eyes on spectacular sand dunes, take the tiger trail, or just watch the birds in the wetlands. The climate varies throughout Rajasthan. On average winter temperatures range from 8° to 28° C (46° to 82° F) and summer temperatures range from 25° to 46° C (77° to 115° F).

Day 01: ARRIVE JODHPUR

Met upon arrival at Jodhpur Airport. Shikhar Travel Representative will transfer you to the hotel to check in followed by Lunch. Afternoon we will take you for a jeep safari of Guda Bishnoi Village, Dhani Bishnoi Village – Interaction with the local villagers to know their day to day activities, Salawas (Specially famous for small families involved in manufacturing for Dari factories, you can also try out there hand in the durrie making process). Evening return to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Bishnoi is a community of nature worshippers in the state of Rajasthan. The sect was founded by Guru Jambheshwar (b. 1451) after wars between Muslim invaders and local Hindus. He had laid down 29 principles to be followed by the sect. Bish means 20 and noi means 9. Thus, Bishnoi translates as Twenty-niners. The Bishnoi community inhabits the village. The villagers are staunch worshippers of nature in all its forms, specially the sanctity of plant and animal life. They even pray to the green trees and animals that inhabit their land. In this world of exploitation everywhere, they make every effort to conserve the environment.

Day 02: JODHPUR

Post breakfast visit Charwahon Ki Gali (Famous for Tie Dye Work – explore the various menthods involved in the Tie and Dye Work). Lunch. Post Lunch half day city tour covering, visiting The Mehrangarh Fort which has a high stone wall protecting the well fortified city. Within the fort are rooms with rich collection of palanquins, elephant howdahs, musical instruments, costumes, furniture and armory. Also visit Jaswant Thada, a white marble memorial. Lunch. Afternoon we will go for a Heritage Walk of Old City covering Tripoliya Bazar, Ghata Ghar or Clock Tower. Dinner and overnight stay.

Mehrangarh Fort: The most magnificent fort in Jodhpur is the Mehrangarh Fort. It is situated on a 150m high hill. Rao Jodha, the then chief of Rathore clan, constructed it in 1459. There are a number of attractions within the fort like several palaces, galleries, a museum, temples and so on.

Jaswant Thada: Jaswant Thada lies to the left of the Mehrangarh fort complex. It is a royal cenotaph made up of white marble. It was built to commemorate Maharaja Jaswant Singh. Some rare portraits of the former rulers of Jodhpur are also displayed here.

Day 03: JODHPUR - MERTA - PUSHKAR

Today morning after an early breakfast depart for Ajmer or holy city of Rajasthan enroute visit Merta. Merta is famous for it's Temple known as Charbhuja Temple or Meera Bai Temple. Post sight seeing of Nimaj proceed to Pushkar. On arrival at Pushkar check in at your resort. Later we will enjoy a Sunset Camel Safari on the sand dunes. Later visit the famous Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temple. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Charbhuja Temple famous for its history dating back to more than 400 years. Charbhuja Temple in Merta is the Temple where Meera Bai worshipped Lord Krishna before her marriage to Prince Bhoj of Chittor.

Pushkar Lake is believed to wash away the sins of a lifetime, cure several diseases and even bestow salvation! No doubt pilgrims travel from far to take a dip in the magical waters of the Pushkar Lake. The lake was devoted to Lord Brahma. The lake is surrounded by 500 temples, 52 palaces and 52 ghats. Brahma Temple, the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma (the creator of the universe according to Hindu mythology) in the entire country.

Day 04: PUSHKAR - AJMER - JAIPUR

Morning after breakfast check out from your resort and drive to Ajmer. On arrival at Ajmer visit the famous Dargah Shariff & Adhahi Din Ka Jhopra. Post Lunch depart for Jaipur. On arrival at Jaipur check in at your hotel. Evening visit the ethnic Village of Chowki Dhani. Enjoy a Rajasthani Dinner. Return to resort for overnight stay.

Dargah Shariff:- The Dargah entombs the Sufi Saint, Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti. The Khwaja came from Persia and committed his whole life towards the betterment of the destitute and oppressed. It is one of the most revered Muslim shrines in the country.

Day 05: JAIPUR

Today post breakfast we will take you to Sanganer for a half day work shop to get a practical experience on Block Printing and Blue Pottery Making. Later visit a Hand Made Paper Factory to experience the process of Hand Made Paper making (Even you can also try hands out in the process). Return to hotel for Lunch. Afternoon a half guided city tour of Jaipur, visit Amer Fort. Evening enjoy a Light and Sound Show at Amer Fort Complex. Dinner and overnight stay.

Amer Fort The forts rugged forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate refinement. Painted scenes of hunting and war adorn the walls with precious stones and mirrors set into the plaster.

Day 06: JAIPUR - ONWARD DESTINATION

Morning after breakfast depart for Jaipur airport to take your flight for Onward destination. Meal Plan: Breakfast.
