It has been said from ages that the Himalayas have always been an abode of Lord Shiva and there are many peaks in Himlayan<\/a><\/strong> Range that are named after Shiva or his belongings and Mount Shivling (6543 m)<\/strong> is one of them. This huge snow caped mountain located in western Gharwal region named Tapovan. It is one of the most beautiful peaks in Uttarakhand which looks like a giant conical shaped tooth which is why it is also referred as Indian Matterhorn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mt Shivling Expedition 6543M- Shikhar Travels<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Mt Shivling expedition<\/strong> is of 24\ndays which is going to be quite challenging and requires technical & prior mountaineering\nexperience<\/strong>. It is actually a twin-summit mountain with rocky surface and\nfalling seracs near glaciers. The knowledge of using Ice tools, crampons,\ncarabiners and other climbing anchors is very much required for this\nexpedition. The best months to go on this expedition will be May, June,\nSeptember and October. This will push your limits, challenge you and will\nprepare you for 6000 meter plus peaks in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tapovan Mt Shivling – Shikhar Travels<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Mount Shivling trekking<\/strong> route will pass\nthrough verdant meadow and heavenly vistas of snow beds. This route is also for\nfamous holy Gangotri Glacier (Gaumukh)<\/strong> which is the main source of\nBhagirathi River in Uttarakhand. Shivling peak can be seen very prominently\nfrom Gaumukh but not easily approachable. Other than Gangotri, there are some\nfamous glaciers in region like Meru Bamak Glacier<\/strong> in north of the\nmountain and Kirti Bamak Glacier. The daunting peaks and remote Himalayan life\non this expedition is a delight to adventurous souls and nature lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twin Summit Mt Shivling – Shikhar Travels<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As Mount Shivling<\/strong> is a part of Gangotri Range,\nso the usual route of driving from Delhi will be via Rishikesh, Uttarkashi\n& reaching Gangotri. You plan the overnight stay in Uttarkashi &\nRishikesh as the distance is quite long. The main trek starts from Gangotri\nafter the legal formalities with local administration like undertakings and\npermits. The first camping sight will be Bhojbasa at an elevation of 3729 m\nwith majestic view of snow clad peaks of Bhagirathi sisters. After an overnight\nstay, the next day trek should cover the distance till Tapovan (4328 m). It is the\nbest camping place of Uttarkashi region. This fascinating place will leave you\nspeechless with snow peaks around and Mount Shivling summit right in front\nstanding high that will undoubtedly give you a weak knee. Some trekkers, who\njust begin with trekking experiences or learning new trekking skills choose\nTapovan Trek and return back from this base camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Tapovan base camp, mountaineers are advised to stay\nhere for some days to acclimatize to the weather and altitude as further thee\nsummit is quiet higher than this. People usually reserve 10-14 days at base\ncamp for preparation, fitness check and buffer for weather condition. These\ndays usually pass by ascending towards high altitude, setting camps, fix ropes\nor anchors wherever needed and coming back to base camp for night. Then again\nanother day climbing up to a higher altitude, getting trained and coming back.\nThis will continue till everything goes favourable and everyone is ready to climb\nMount Shivling<\/strong>, the final summit. This should start very early in dark as\nthe captivating view of different Himalayan ranges from the summit needs your\nundivided attention (especially of going back on time). After snowy, icy and\nsteep climb this is the perfect treat to eyes that one can get at an altitude\nof 6543 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
