Overview

Darjeeling, Gangtok and Kalimpong are among the most popular destinations in India's North-East. Located in the Eastern Himalaya and staring at the world's third-highest peak, the Khangchendzonga, Darjeeling is a popular hill station in Darjeeling district of India's eastern state of West Bengal. It was once a summer resort for the British elite. Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, is one of the most exotic places in India because of its natural beauty. Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, Gangtok captures the stunning views of the Kangchenjunga. The city is a major Buddhist pilgrimage centre where famous monasteries Rumtek Monastery and Enchey Monastery are located. There are many other places to explore in Gangtok. Kalimpong is a hill station located in West Bengal, neighbouring Darjeeling. The town is famous for its stunning mountain views, greenery, monasteries and flower plantations.

DAY 1: ARRIVE KOLKATA (FLIGHT)
On arrival at Kolkata airport meet and assistance by our representative and transfer to your hotel for check-in
 
Kolkata was the capital of India during British emperor. The city's documented history, however, begins with the arrival of the English East India Company in 1690, when the Company was consolidating its trade business in Bengal.
 
After some rest proceed for sightseeing of Kolkata visiting, Victoria Memorial, (remain closed on Monday) St. Paul Cathedral Church and Mother Teresa’s House.

DAY 2: KOLKATA – BAGDOGRA- GANGTOK (FLIGHT + 126 KMS 5 HRS DRIVE)
Morning in time transfer to airport to board the morning flight for Bagdogra. Afternoon arrive at Bagdogra and drive to Gangtok.
 
Gangtok situated an altitude of 1750m, Gangtok became the state capital in the mid-19th century and has undergone rapid development since then. The downtown area is dominated by huge government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols. Gangtok is also a resting ground for people travelling to North Sikkim. Surrounded by Monasteries and Orchids.

DAY 3: GANGTOK
Morning after breakfast proceed to visit Rumtek monastery, the world Dharma chakra Centre and the seat of His Holiness, the Gyalwa Karmapa, who is the head of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism.
 
Later visit Enchey Monastery, Do-drulchorten, Namgyal Institute Of Tibetology (closed on Sundays) and Orchidarium.
 
Evening free at leisure to explore the local Handicraft centre and Market.
Overnight at Gangtok.

DAY 4: GANGTOK
Full day excursion to Phodong Monastery ( Approx. 40 Kms one way).Phodang Monastery was built in the 18th century by Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal. It belongs to the Kargyupa sect. The original monastery has been rebuilt although the old mural paintings and frescoes were preserved. It celebrates its annual ‘chaam’ on the 28th and 29th day of the tenth month of the Tibetan calendar.

After the visit of monastery return to Gangtok.

DAY 5: GANGTOK – PELLING (153 KMS 5HRS DRIVE)
Morning after breakfast drive to Pelling via Tashiding Monastery The Tashiding monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa order and is highly revered among the people of Sikkim. Build on the top of the hill and looming over the Rathong and Rangitriver, The monastery was built during the 17th Century.
Overnight at Pelling.

DAY 6: PELLING – KALINGPONG ( 95 KMS. 4HRS DRIVE)
Breakfast at the hotel drive to Kalimpong. On arraival check in at hotel. Later in the afternoon city tour of Kalimpong visiting Flower Nurseries (flowering as per the climate.) Tharpa Choling Monastery at Tirpai hill on route to Dr.Graham’s Home belongs to the Yellow Hat sect of Lamas to which the present Dalai Lama belongs. & ThongsaGumpa: this monastery is of Bhutanese origin and built around 1692. It is the oldest in Kalimpong.
Overnight in Kalimpong.

DAY 7 KALINGPONG –DARJEELING (60KMS 2HRS DRIVE)
After breakfast at hotel drive to Darjeeling. On arrival check in at hotel. Later in the afternoon visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), and Zoological Park(closed on Thursday) and Tibetan Refuge Centre(closed on Sunday).
Overnight in Darjeeling.

DAY 8: DARJEELING
Early morning before dawn visit Tiger Hill. One can witness beautiful sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchandzonga , Mount Everest etc. On your return visit Ghoom Monastery. The oldest Monastery in the region which was built in 1875 and one can see the image of Mythey Buddha 15ft. height.

Return to hotel for breakfast. After some rest enjoy the heritage toy train ride till Ghoom.
Rest of the evening free at leisure to explore the Mall Raod.
Overnight in Darjeeling.

DAY 9: DARJEELING – BAGDOGRA (80KMS 4 HOURS DRIVE )
After morning breakfast in time transfer back to  Bagdogra airport  to board your flight to Kolkata / Delhi and then connect flight back home.
