Overview

The Bali Pass Trek is one of the most thrilling and less-explored high-altitude treks in the Indian Himalayas. This challenging trek connects the famous Har Ki Dun Valley with the sacred pilgrimage destination Yamunotri. The trek begins from the picturesque Himalayan village of Sankri and crosses the dramatic Bali Pass at an altitude of 4,950 m (16,240 ft) before descending toward Yamunotri Valley.

The trek offers magnificent panoramic views of Himalayan giants such as Bandarpoonch Peak, Kala Nag, and the Swargarohini Peaks. Trekkers pass through dense forests, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, and pristine high-altitude lakes including the stunning Ruinsara Tal.

Due to steep ascents, narrow trails, and challenging pass crossing, the Bali Pass trek is recommended only for experienced trekkers with excellent physical endurance. The best seasons for the trek are May–June and September–October.
