Who Can Visit Lakshadweep

 

Indian Travelers: All islands in Lakshadweep are open to Indian tourists.

Foreign visitors: Foreign tourists with a passport and visa to India may enter Agatti, Kadmat, and the Bangaram International Tourist Resort on invitation but under the supervision of the administrator.

Foreign Nationals: People approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, to undertake official tasks are allowed to visit these islands.

If you want to visit Lakshadweep, there are a few things to remember:

 

  1. Entry Permit: An entry permit must be obtained and can be downloaded here. Complete it and return to the Lakshadweep office in Kochi.

 

  1. Application Fee: Rs 50 per application, payable in cash or demand draft at Lakshadweep Office, Kochi

 

  1. Submission: On arrival at the island, people should request entry from a designated registration officer within 24 hours. When you arrive, give the permit to the Kochi Administrator.

  1. Police Clearance Certificate: This should be obtained through your local Commissioner of Police. You can get your certificate here.

 

  1. ID evidence: Bring your original identification ID evidence and signature. Alternative IDs, such as Aadhaar or Election ID, might be beneficial. Verify that each passenger has a self-attested copy.

 

  1. Passport Photos: Bring three passport-size photographs.

How to reach Lakshadweep:

To reach Lakshadweep, you can go by ship or by air.

By Ship: Seven ships go between Cochin and Lakshadweep in 14 to 20 hours. You can choose from a variety of programmes based on how much money you have. Shipping includes facilities such as a café, an entertainment space, and emergency medical services. The upper level also shows videos.

By Air: Agatti is the only airport in Lakshadweep. To begin with, book a plane ticket to Cochin International Airport. Travel by helicopter from Cochin to Kavaratti, which takes about an hour and thirty minutes. The helicopter flies five days a week.
