Nepal Trekking Guide

The most classic trekking in Nepal gives an opportunity to see a variety of major peaks in a relatively short time and above all without having to worry about excessively high altitudes: Annapurna South (7219 mt.), Annapurna III (7555 mt.) Gangapurna (7454 mt.) and Machhapuchhare (6993 mt.). The view from Poon Hill, the massif of Dhaulagiri (8167 mt.) Is extraordinary and amazing.

Two Ways to go Trekking

Lodge House Trek: This type of trekking is undoubtedly the one that is most popular among Westerners and includes overnight accommodation in tea houses or lodges, structures comparable to our inn or mountain huts.

Camping Trek: The other way to make this vacation is to spend the night in tents by using a larger number of follow-up Sherpa who was responsible for transporting the material from the field and preparing meals.

Kathmandu / Pokhara / Phed – Trekking up to Dhampus (1800 mt.) 3 hours walk

In the morning transfer by private car, in Pokhara, the second most important city of Nepal. Continue through the village of Phed. From this point begins the Annapurna Sanctuary trekking. The entire region extending from Phed to the valley bottom to the top of the mountain is commonly called Dhampus although the main part of the village Dhampus is located atop a ridge in the afternoon we will reach after about 3 hours of travel. The area is inhabited by Brahmins and some Chhetra Gurung.

Dhampus (1800 mt.) / Landrung (1680 mt.) 6 hours walk

From Dhampus the road climbs steeply up to Pothana, an extensive cluster of hotels at an altitude of 1990 meters. The sight of Machhapuchhre (6997 m), the mountain ‘a fish tail’ (from Machha ‘fish’ and Puchhare ‘tail’) is beautiful from Pothana, but from this angle, it looks more like the Matterhorn than a fish’s tail. To view the mountain from the proper perspective you have to wait several days until entering Santuario dell’Annapurna. In the afternoon arrival at Landrung, Gurung village at 1680 meters.

Landrung / Ghandrung (1980 mt.) 5 hours walk

From Landrung we marched early in the morning and headed Ghandrung at 1990 mt. With its 270 families, It is the second extension Gurung village in Nepal.

Ghandrung / Tadapani (2721 mt.) 5 hours walk

From Ghandrung begins one of the most beautiful paths of the entire Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail follows the KyuriKhola and reaches after a steep climb to the village of Baisi Khark. Through a forest of Rhododendrons and a long climb reach Tadapani. The village is a cluster of hotels and stands at an altitude of 2721 meters. The view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhare is a true spectacle.

Tadapani / Ghorepani (2830 mt.) 5 hours walk

From Tadapani descend toward the Bhurungdikhola and up the ridge for a very steep path. After some ups and downs and having different fields of bamboo and the surrounding forest, we arrive at Banthanti, consisting of numerous hotels in the shadow of an imposing cliff at 2650 meters. In the afternoon we reach the village of Ghorepani at an altitude of 2830 meters.

Dawn hike to Poon Hill and trek up to Tikhedhunga (1577 mt.) 7 hours walk

To admire the majestic Himalayas unhindered dawn, early morning we will hike to Poon Hill in 3210 mt., About an hour climb from Ghorepani. The scenario that you present to our eyes with the sight of Dhaulagiri (8167 mt.) Of Tukuche, Nilgiri (6940 mt.) Hiunchuli (6441 mt.), Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091 mt.) Tarka and Kang (7193 mt.) will thrill to remember for the entire trip. We head back downstream to the village of Tikhedhunga where we will stop for the night.

Tikhedhunga / Nayapool – Transfer to Pokhara 5 hours of walking and 1 car

The path that leads us to Pokhara along the north shore of BhurungdiKhola. Through the villages of Hill and Sudam and will arrive in the afternoon at the village of Nayapool concluding the trek of the Annapurna Sanctuary. From this point Drive to the city of Pokhara.

Pokhara

A whole day to rest after the grueling trek, and to visit this charming town nestled on the shores of Lake Phewa Tal. Hiring a boat on the water you can admire the view of the entire Himalayan range of Annapurna, Manaslu, and the Machhapuchhare.

Kathmandu Temples

Morning dedicated to a tour of the major monuments and temples in the city. Visit the stupa of Swayambhunath, which stands on a hill where you can admire the entire valley of Kathmandu. In the afternoon visit the Temple of Pashupatinath, dedicated to Goddess Kali of Dekshinkali and Bodnath stupa, the largest of all Nepal.
