Overview

The Char Dham Yatra is a set of four Hindu shrine in Indian Himalayas is one of the most visited pilgrimages in northern India. Hindu devotees come from all over the world to visit the yatra at least once in a lifetime. Char Dham Yatra namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath these are the temples, and all are situated in the Garwhal region of Uttrakhand state. Yamunotri and Gangotri is dedicated to two different revers named Yamuna and Ganga on the other hand Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva while Badrinath is dedicated to lord Vishnu. Kedarnath is situated on the highest altitude among these four (3500M). Yatra is closed in winters due to heavy snow fall and reopen in summer.

Char Dham Yatra Tour Package - 2024 itinerary

Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar Drive: 230kms. - Time: 06 hrs.
Post breakfast board the cab and depart to Haridwar. On arrival check in to the hotel. Later, if time permits visit Har Ki Pauri and witness evening Ganga Aarti, post visit return to hotel for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 02: Haridwar - Barkot - Drive: 193 kms. - Time: 07 hrs. - Altitude: 1,220 M 
Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Barkot, on arrival check in to the resort for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight stay in Barkot.

Day 03: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot - Drive: 45 kms. - Trek: 06 kms. - Altitude: 3,293M 
Morning after an early breakfast drive up-to Janki Chatti (starting point of the trek). Trek for 6 Kms to reach Yamunotri - one of the four sacred shrines of Uttrakhand & also the source of the river Yamuna.
 
Yamunotri Dham: Visit the Yamunotri temple (dedicated to goddess Yamuna built by queen Gularia of Jaipur), Suryakund (has a temperature of 190-degree F, pilgrims tie rice & potatoes in a musline cloth & immerse it in the water to be cooked), Divyashila, a rock pillar, worshipped before entering the Yamunotri temple. Trek back to Jankichatti and drive back to Barkot.

Day 04: Barkot - Uttarkashi - Drive: 80 kms. - Time: 05 hrs. - Altitude:1,158M
Morning after breakfast drive to Uttarkashi. Upon arrival check-in the hotel/resort. Later sightseeing of Uttarkashi (If time permits).

Day 05: Uttarkashi - Gangotri – Uttarkashi - Drive: 95 kms. - Time: 05 hrs. - Altitude:3,415M
Early morning proceeds to Gangotri. Upon arrival in Gangotri visit Gangotri temple. Later in the day drive back to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi. 
 
Gangotri Dham: The 18th century temple is modest granite structure first built in the 18th century and rebuilt by the Maharaja of Jaipur. Hindus believe that goddess Ganga was brought down to earth by the mythological king Bagirathi also the Ganga is believed to contain "Amrit" holy nectar and is said to cleanse one of all sins.

Day 06: Uttarkashi – Guptkashi - Drive: 198 kms. - Time: 08 hrs. - Altitude:1,319M
Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Guptkashi. Upon arrival check in the resort.

Day 07: Guptkashi – Gaurikund – Kedarnath - Drive: 30 kms. - Trek: 19 hrs. - Altitude:3,553M
Early morning board the coach and drive to Sonprayag, from here take local cab to reach Gaurikund (2kms). In Gaurikund you can take a Pony or Palaki, start your 19 kms long trek from here. On arrival at Kedarnath check in to the guest house, later visit Kedarnath temple for evening Aarti, dinner and overnight stay in the guest house.
 
Kedarnath Dham: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface.
 
The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Day 08: Kedarnath – Gaurikund – Rudraparyag - Trek: 19 kms. - Drive: 75 kms. -  Altitude:895M      Morning trek down to Gaurikund and Drive to Rudraparyag. Upon arrival check in the hotel.
Overnight stay in Rudraparyag.

Day 09: Rudraparyag - Badrinath - Drive: 155 kms. - Time: 06 hrs. - Altitude: 3,300M
Moring after breakfast drive to Badrinath. On arrival check in to the hotel. In the evening visit Badrinath temple and witness evening aarti of Lord Badri Vishal. Overnight stay in Badrinath.
 
Badrinath: Badrinath one of the 'Four Dhams' is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus, the place got the name "Badri van", meaning "forest of berries".

Day 10: Badrinath – Rishikesh - Drive: 294 kms. - Time: 10 hrs. - Altitude: 895M
Morning after breakfast return drive to Rishikesh. En-route at Devprayag, take a short photo stop of its magnificent confluence view of Bahagirathi & Alaknanda. Take further 2 Hrs drive to Rishikesh. Upon arrival check in the hotel.
 
Devprayag: The small town of Devprayag at the confluence of river Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. From this confluence point onwards, the new river is called as Ganga. Before this point, Bhagirathi is considered Ganga. The place is of high religious importance, as Ganga takes it real form here. The town is named after a sage Dev Sharma, who lived here and meditated. He is said to have been blessed with a glimpse of god. Devprayag is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims. Religious ablutions take place at two basins excavated in the rock at the junction of the holy streams. One on the Bhagirathi known as the Brahm Kund and the other on the Alaknanda called Vashisth Kund.

Day 11: Rishikesh – Delhi - Drive: 227 kms. - Time: 06 hrs.
Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and return drive to Delhi. On arrival Delhi in the evening transfer to the airport/railway station.
