Overview

Stok Kangri, which lies at an altitude of 6153 meters above the sea level is a trekking journey in India that comes with various challenges. Mount Kangri is situated in the national park of Leh, Ladakh in the north Indian state of Jammu And Kashmir. The base of this trekking is Stok village which is approximately 15 km from the picturesque Leh town. The best time to climb up this mountain is between the months of June and September.

You would require at least 9 days to conquer Mount Stok Kangri trekking up a distance of roughly 40 km. On the first day, you start from the Stok Village and progress towardsManikarmo. In the following few days, you would need to practice climbing and then take rest at the base camp. From the fifth or sixth day onwards, you start for the actual trek. 

For the real summit, you will be guided throughout the route that comprises a ton of glaciers and steep slopes. Struggling through difficult terrains, once you reach the top, all your hardships will take a backseat as you enjoy the most breathtaking panoramic views of the extensive Karakoram Range. Apart from gorgeous mountain views of the Zanskar Range, you can also soak in the mesmerizing sights of the Indus Valley. If you are up for more, then you can sightsee the ancient Buddhist monasteries, palaces and the charming village scenes of Ladakh. Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Welcome to Delhi - a city where hospitality is a way of life; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and proceed to Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: Delhi – Leh

Morning after an early breakfast transfer to domestic airport to board one of the most spectacular Trans- Himalayan flight to Leh. Welcome on arrival at Leh Airport (3500 mt) and transfer to hotel.

Rest of the day free for high altitude acclimatization. In the afternoon proceed to visit Sankar Gompa, Shanti Stupa and later drop at the main Bazaar and walk down to the hotel.

Day 03: Leh

Morning after breakfasts proceed for sightseeing tour of Hemis, Shey and Thiksey monasteries.

HEMIS: Hemis Monastery simply conjures up an image of magnificent snow covered peaks, alpine green valleys and high altitude passes. It reflects the Buddhist culture and living life in harmony among such harsh climatic conditions of Ladakh. There are a number of shrines around this great courtyard, all of them of considerable interest.

SHEY: On the main road up the Indus, about 14 Km from Leh, was the ancient capital of Ladakh. The monastery has a huge copper-gilt image of Sakyamuni and the large silver lamp burning in front of the statue.Other feature of this monastery is the fine wall paintings and murals. Though it bears the burnt of erlasting flame of butter lamps.

THIKSEY: is one of the largest Gompa of Central Ladakh..The Monastery is actually a complex of buildings on a crag rising in tire upon tier above the village. The temple was dedicated by His Holiness Dalai in 1980 and houses an immense image of Maitreya in an unusual manifestation known as Chon-kor.

Day 04: Leh - Stok - Manikarmo

After breakfast drive to Stok village and start trek to Manikarmo (4600 mt). Witness once again to the barren mountain and wilderness, we trek up the Matho River Valley and set up camp after several hours.

Overnight stay at Camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch (Packed) + Dinner

Day 05: Manikarmo - Base Camp

Morning after breakfast trek to reach Base Camp (5020 mt). On arrival set the camp for overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 06: Base Camp

Morning short walk till Advance Base Camp for acclimatization. Spend some time near the glacier and return to Base Camp for overnight stay.

Day 07: Base Camp - Summit – Base Camp

Early in the morning proceed to summit Mt Stok Kangri (6150 mt).From Summit one can see the Saser group in the Great Karakoram Range, where K2 lies. Leaving the peak and back to Base Camp. overnight stay at Base Camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 08: Reserve Day

Day reserve for Summit (in case of bad weather). Overnight stay at base camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch+ Dinner

Day 09: Base Camp - Stok- Leh

From base camp trek back to Stok via Manikarmo. Reach Stok and drive to Leh. Arrive Leh and check in to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10: Leh - Delhi

Morning after an early breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport to board flight to Delhi. Arrival at Delhi and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 11: Delhi Departure

Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to airport and board flight for onward destination.

  • Liability for or insurance against injury, loss of life, accidents or loss of goods.
  • Any Cargo and Shipment Charges (Import and Custom Clearance)
  • Personal Belongings such as Sleeping Bags, walking sticks etc.

Please ensure your insurance covers you for the heights you are likely to attain and for helicopter rescue as well. When you have chosen and booked your insurance, please provide SHIKHAR TRAVELS with your Insurers name, their 24 hour emergency telephone number and your Policy number with them. Remember, your insurance is not worth the paper it's written on if we don't know the details and you need their assistance.

General Conditions:

  • The prices are on Per Person basis, Nett & Non Commissionable.
  • Upon confirmation of the booking we would require 50% of the total invoice and the balance amount can be paid 60 days prior to the date of arrival.
  • Class of travel on trains may change based on availability at the time of booking
  • All flight/train timings are based on current schedule and are strictly subject to change
  • All prices are subject to any revision of tax and tariff structure

Cancellation policy:

Cancellation Charges: Notice of cancellation must be made in writing in the name of Shikhar Travels (India) Pvt. Ltd.

For cancellation made 4 weeks prior to the scheduled departure, there will be a cancellation fee of 50% of the invoice. For cancellation made within 4 weeks of scheduled departure, there will be cancellation charge of 100% of the invoice.

In certain cases the cancellation policy (including conditions applicable on the advance deposit made/required for holding the reservation) may differ & would be applicable as per the cancellation policy of that hotel / Service provider. This will be charged over & in addition to the cancellation policy.

Unused Services & Refund

No refund will be made for any unused services or other arrangements due to any changes in schedule made by passenger while traveling. However, in certain cases, the refund will be considered as per the policy of the carrier/ hotel/ tour company / or other suppliers used for providing services.

Refund request must be made within 2 weeks of the completion of the trip.

If there is any additional expenses due to bad weather or any other reason beyond the control of the tour operator on account of hotel stay, transportation, and meals etc. extra bill will be raised. Neither Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. nor the participating suppliers/hotels will be responsible for the additional expenses.

Responsibility, Liability, Extra Cost, Prices and Brochure Accuracy - Changes and Errors

All the packages are sold under the business management of Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. and they are in no way to be considered as the principal or operator of the subject services. The right is reserved to cancel or alter any package as conditions require. Neither Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. nor the participating suppliers/hotels will be responsible for the additional expenses due to loss, delay or damage caused by accident, illness, bad weather, strikes / riots, road block etc.

Governing Law

This conditions and each term shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of India without reference to conflict of laws principles and disputes arising in relation here to shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi.
