Overview

Mount Bandarpunch – the name literally inspired after the Hindu mythological tale of Lord Hanuman when he came here to cool down his tail burned during the conversation with Ravana, the mountain then, formed the structure around his journey and the peak is now often pictured as the Tail of Monkey. The starkly white snow-covered massive has three peaks namely – Bandarpoonch 1 standing at an elevation of 6316M, Bandarpunch 2 stands at an elevation of 6102M, and lastly, the Kalanag (also called the Black Peak) standing at an elevation of 6387 M. All together, these three peaks are located at the western edge of Garhwal Himalayas within the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park.

The climb to this massive takes around 20 days to complete when embarked from Delhi. The journey is not considered too technical but the mountaineering department has always advised to either have some prior climbing experience or a basic course on mountaineering before commencing for this challenging summit. Or you could just have some trekking skills like how to use crampons, ice axes, jumars on a climb, and also how to rope down a steep path. Since the path to the climb is heavily comprised of crevasses and scree so, you may need to have strong physical capability before preparing for such a journey. But once climbed, the breathtaking view remains etched in your heart for your whole life.

For such a technical summit journey, it is best advised to book the expedition with a well-known traveling partner. Our highly trained team at – Shikhar Travels has partnered with many aspiring climbers and also, carried out the summit attempt with ease by giving luxurious facilities to them.

We suggest you go through our specially customized itinerary for more information -
