Overview

Ladakh is a mountaineer’s true delight being surrounded by the mighty Himalayas in the South and the Karakoram in the North. Soaring peaks all over provide innumerous options to climb in Ladakh. Stok Kangri & Kang Yatse being one of the most popular amongst these peak. Although you don’t require special mountaineering skills but you need to be an avid trekker and must be fully acclimatized for such climbs. These peaks give you a real opportunity to climb an above 6000m mountain in less than 7 days, which is not possible in any other part of the world.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Welcome to Delhi - a city where hospitality is a way of life; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and proceed to Hotel for check in.

Later during the day visit Old Delhi and drive past Delhi’s Colonial style building the Presidents House, Parliament and India Gate before returning to hotel.

Day 02: Delhi – Leh

Morning after an early breakfast transfer to domestic airport to board one of the most spectacular Trans-Himalayan flight to Leh. Welcome on arrival at Leh Airport (3500 mt) and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free for high altitude acclimatization. In the afternoon proceed to visit Sankar Gompa, Shanti Stupa and later drop at the main Bazaar and walk down to the hotel.

Day 03: Leh

Morning after breakfast proceeds for sightseeing tour of Hemis, Shey and Thiksey monasteries.

SHEY: On the main road up the Indus, about 14 Km from Leh, Shey was the ancient capital of Ladakh. The monastery has a huge copper-giltimage of Sakyamuni and the large silver lamp burning in front of the statue. Witness fine wall paintings, murals and everlasting flame of butter lamps.

THIKSEY is one of the largest Gompa of Central Ladakh. The Monastery is actually a complex of buildings on a crag rising in tire upon tier above the village. The temple was dedicated by His Holiness Dalai in 1980 and houses an immense image of Maitreya in an unusual manifestation known as Chon-kor.

HEMIS: Hemis Monastery simply conjures up an image of magnificent snow covered peaks, alpine green valleys and high altitude passes. It reflects the Buddhist culture and living life in harmony among such harsh climatic conditions of Ladakh. There are a number of shrines around this great courtyard, all of them of considerable interest.

Day 04: Leh - Spituk - Zingchen

Morning after breakfast in hotel meet with mountain guide and start driving to Spituk village (around 7 kms) and start hiking to our first camping village Zinchen 3600m. Arrive Zingchen in the afternoon and rest of day to explore.

Overnight stay in tented camp at Zingchen.

Day 05: Zingchen - bottom of Ganda La (Yurutse 4500 m)

Morning after breakfast we will go down the throat and cross the river of numerous times. A landscape of multicoloured rocks and poplars through a vast tray appears. As you walk till Yurutse, meet a local family (according to their available funds). Progressive ascent to the foot of the Ganda La pass.

Set up night camp to Yurutse.

Day 06: Yurutse - Skiu (3400 m) via Ganda La (4800 m)

Morning after breakfast we perceive beautiful landscapes along the mountain. Cross a small valley before a zigzag ascent, up till the tray. Trek up for about 3 hours along the mountain till the pass Ganda La. A long easy descent towards Shingo leads us through parades of magnificent landscapes. After a descent of approximately 2 hours, we finally arrive the valley of Markha, where a beautiful ground serves us as camp in Skiu.

Day 07: Skiu - Markha (3710 m)

Morning after breakfast start trek to Markha. Reconnect with nature as you walk on the banks of beautiful Markha River and explore an amazing diversity of vegetation We establish our camp near the river.

Day 08: Markha - Tchatchutse (3750 m)

Morning after breakfast trek to Tchatchutse. This path is challenging as you pass through the bed of the river. Before arriving at the village of Hankar, we visit the monastery of Humlung, along the river. Little beyond Hankar, we abandon a wide valley on our right. We move further up to take a narrow valley crossing a bridge to reach the pastures of Tchatchutse. Overnight stay at Base Camp.

Day 09: Tchatchutse - Base Camp Kang Yatse (5040 m)

Morning after breakfast start trek where you cross a small lake, and pastures where you will witness yaks herds. It is one of the most beautiful high valleys of Ladakh. Camp at feet of the summit. In the evening, we will walk uptill near the base camp for acclimatization.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 10-13: Base Camp – Summit - Base Camp

Attempt summit Kang yatse 6200 M and back to base camp.

Day 14: Base Camp – Chuskirmo (4 100 m)

Morning after breakfast descent to Schuskirmo. Overnight stay in camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 15: Chuskirmo – Shingo

Morning after breakfast trek to Shingo. Overnight stay in camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 16: Shingo – Gompochey

Morning after breakfast proceed to Gompochey. Overnight stay in camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 17: Gompochey – Base Camp of Stok Kangri

Morning after breakfast stat trek to base camp of Mt. Stok Kangri. Overnight stay in camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 18: Base Camp - Advance Base Camp - Base Camp

Morning short walk till Advance Base Camp for acclimatization. Spend some time near the glacier and return to Base Camp for overnight stay.

Day 19: Base Camp - Summit Mt Stok Kangri - Base Camp

Very early in the morning proceed to summit Mt Stok Khangri (6150 mt).From Summit one can see the Saser group in the Great Karakoram Range, where K2 lies. Leaving the peak and back to Base Camp. Overnight stay at Base Camp.

Day 20: Reserve day for Summit Mt. Stok Kangri

This day will be reserve for Summit Mt. Stok Kangri.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 21: Base Camp - Stok – Leh

From base camp trek back to Stok via Manikarmo. Reach Stok and drive to Leh.

Arrive Leh and check in to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 22: Leh

Day for relaxation in Leh. Overnight stay in hotel

Day 23: Leh – Delhi Departure

Early Morning we will transfer you to the airport to board flight to Delhi. Shikhar Travels’ Representative would receive you at Delhi Airport.

Later proceed to IGI Airport Delhi to depart onward destination.

  • Personal clothing and gears required (Personal climbing equpments) 
  • Personal expenses such as table drinks, room’s services items, laundry, telephone calls at hotels or tip etc.
  • Any additional expenses caused by or liability for disturbance in trip program due to or circumstances, weather conditions, sickness, natural disasters, riots etc.
  • Liability for or insurance against injury, loss of life, accidents or loss of goods.
  • Any Cargo and Shipment Charges (Import and Custom Clearance)
  • Personal Belongings such as Sleeping Bags, walking sticks etc.


Please ensure your insurance covers you for the heights you are likely to attain and for helicopter rescue as well. When you have chosen and booked your insurance, please provide SHIKHAR TRAVELS with your Insurers name, their 24 hour emergency telephone number and your Policy number with them. Remember, your insurance is not worth the paper it's written on if we don't know the details and you need their assistance.

General Conditions:

  • The prices are on Per Person basis, Nett & Non Commissionable.
  • Upon confirmation of the booking we would require 50% of the total invoice and the balance amount can be paid 60 days prior to the date of arrival.
  • Class of travel on trains may change based on availability at the time of booking
  • All flight/train timings are based on current schedule and are strictly subject to change
  • All prices are subject to any revision of tax and tariff structure

Cancellation policy:

Cancellation Charges: Notice of cancellation must be made in writing in the name of Shikhar Travels (India) Pvt. Ltd.

For cancellation made 4 weeks prior to the scheduled departure, there will be a cancellation fee of 50% of the invoice. For cancellation made within 4 weeks of scheduled departure, there will be cancellation charge of 100% of the invoice.

In certain cases the cancellation policy (including conditions applicable on the advance deposit made/required for holding the reservation) may differ & would be applicable as per the cancellation policy of that hotel / Service provider. This will be charged over & in addition to the cancellation policy.

Unused Services & Refund

No refund will be made for any unused services or other arrangements due to any changes in schedule made by passenger while traveling. However, in certain cases, the refund will be considered as per the policy of the carrier/ hotel/ tour company / or other suppliers used for providing services.

Refund request must be made within 2 weeks of the completion of the trip.

If there is any additional expenses due to bad weather or any other reason beyond the control of the tour operator on account of hotel stay, transportation, and meals etc. extra bill will be raised. Neither Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. nor the participating suppliers/hotels will be responsible for the additional expenses.

Responsibility, Liability, Extra Cost, Prices and Brochure Accuracy - Changes and Errors

All the packages are sold under the business management of Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. and they are in no way to be considered as the principal or operator of the subject services. The right is reserved to cancel or alter any package as conditions require. Neither Shikhar Travels (I) Pvt. Ltd. nor the participating suppliers/hotels will be responsible for the additional expenses due to loss, delay or damage caused by accident, illness, bad weather, strikes / riots, road block etc.

Governing Law

This conditions and each term shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of India without reference to conflict of laws principles and disputes arising in relation here to shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi.
