Overview

Partially aligned along the ancient trade route, the trek connects a series of interlocking valleys, connected through six major passes reaching up to 4550 m. You will traverse through mixed sub tropical forests, coniferous forests; High grasslands, Juniper, Rhododendrons, and desolate high Himalayan pastures there are lovely Alpine lakes and breathtaking views of the great peaks on the Tibet frontier. You also get to see quant Monpa villages, the Tawang Monastery and spend time exploring other sights around Tawang and meeting the people.

The Bailley Trail - Gorichen Trek, Arunachal Pradesh itinerary

Day 1: Arrive - Delhi

Arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Delhi - Guahati

Morning flight to Guwahati. Upon arrival drive down to Tejpur. Ariival & transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Tejpur – Bomdila

Morning drive down to reach Bomdila (2400 mt). En route we will have a stopover for passport check and entry formalities at Bhalukpong Check Gate bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Upon arrival at Bomdila check in to the hotel. Afternoon orientation and acclimatization around the town.

Day 4: Bomdila – Chander

Morning after breakfast drive down to reach Chander village (2571 mt).Upon arrival set the camp. In the afternoon acclimatization trek to the village. Overnight stay at camp.

Day 5: Chander - Changla

Day for a hard trek covering approx 13 kms in 5-hrs through coniferous forests with two steep climbs along a ridge near Chang la pass (3650 m.) Superb views of the Sela range, surrounding valleys and the Himalayan watershed. Arrive and set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 6: Chang La – Poto

Today steady climb through scattered coniferous forests, juniper and Rhododendrons to cross over posing la pass at 3950 meters. Trek continues for another 04 hrs. First we go down hill to cross a glacial stream, and then climb up to an alpine pasture at Poto (4200 mt). The total distance of 14 kms covers in 4-5 hrs. Arive and set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 7: Poto – Lahap

Trek steadily uphill beyond the tree line for 03 hrs to cross the high - Tse la, 4550 m. There is a small Alpine lake below the summit and breath taking panoramic views of the Sela ridge, river valleys, Gorichen (6500 m) and Kangdo,(7090 m) peaks on the Himalayan watershed. During October, whilst descending for 02 hrs to a river valley the trees and foliage presents spectacular fall colors, The total distance of 8 kms takes in 4-5 hrs. Arrive Lahap (3712 mt) and set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 8: Lahap – Mago

Morning after breakfast start trek (12 kms / 4 – 5 hrs) to reach Mago (3680 mt) En route cross Jera La (4031 mt). Arrive and set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 9: Mago – New Maling

Today start trek (14 kms/ 4-5 hrs) to reach New Maling (2000 mt). Arrive and set the camp for overnight stay.

Day 10: New Malling – Jang – Tawang

Last day of the trek 8 kms to reach Jang (1950 mt) which covers in 2 to 3 hrs.Arrive Jung and further drive down to Twang (2857 mt). Upon arrival check in at hotel for overnight stay.

Day 11: Tawang

Full day sightseeing of the Tawang. Explore the 350 years old Tawang Monastery, and have an audience with Rimpoche. In the afternoon visit the Urgelling Monastery dating back to 1489 followed by the Seru Monpa village, and the craft center. Overnight at hotel. Later drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Tawang – Bomdila

Morning after breakfast drive down (190 kms) to Bomdila. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 13: Bomdila - Tejpur

Morning after breakfast drive back (160 kms) to Tejpur via Bhalukpong. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 14: Tezpur - Guwahati – Delhi

Morning after breakfast drive down(200 kms) to Guwahati. En route photo stop of Kalia Bhumura Bridge over River Brahmaputra. Arrive Guwahati and transfer to domestic airport to board flight to Delhi. Received upon arrival and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 15: Depart Delhi

Day at leisure to explore Delhi on your own. Later transfer to airport for flight to onward destination.
