Nepal Annapurna Circuit Trek – Distance, Cost & Trek Itinerary itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 m)
Arrive in Nepal’s vibrant capital. Spend the day exploring Thamel’s bustling streets, filled with trekking shops, cafés, and uesthouses. Ideal for buying or renting gear, exchanging currency, and adjusting to the altitude. Meet your trekking group and guide for a briefing. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2 – Kathmandu to Chame (2,550 m) via Besisahar (760 m)
➾ Distance: 176 km (Kathmandu–Besisahar) + 66 km (Besisahar–Chame)
➾ Duration: 6 hrs drive + 6 hrs drive
An early morning drive out of Kathmandu takes you through green hills, terraced farms, and villages before arriving at Besisahar. From here, switch to a jeep for the bumpy, adventurous road to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang. The route follows the Marsyangdi River, with waterfalls, suspension bridges, and dramatic gorges. Overnight in Chame.
Day 3 – Acclimatization in Chame (2,550 m)
Wake up to stunning views of Lamjung Himal (6,983 m). Chame is perfect for rest and acclimatization. Optional hike to the Chame Viewpoint for sweeping views of Annapurna II (7,937 m) and Manaslu (8,163 m). Explore local monasteries and stone-paved streets. Overnight in Chame.
Day 4 – Chame to Pisang (3,150 m)

The trail ascends gradually through forests and mani walls before crossing a suspension bridge into pine forests. A highlight is Paungda Danda, the “Great Wall of Pisang,” a 1,500 m rock face revered locally as the “Gateway to Heaven.” Arrive in Lower Pisang, a picturesque village with stone houses and prayer wheels. Optional hike to Upper Pisang for evening prayers at the monastery.
Day 5 – Pisang to Manang (3,560 m)

Two routes exist; we take the lower trail via Humde for a gentler walk. The landscape shifts from green forests to the dry rain-shadow region of the Tibetan Plateau. Pass through Humde, Braka, and Mungji villages, with views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, and Chulu peaks. Arrive at Manang, a lively village with lodges, cafés, and shops.
Day 6 – Acclimatization in Manang (3,560 m)
Take a rest day in Manang, surrounded by glaciers and peaks. Optional hikes to Ice Lake (4,620 m) or Milarepa’s Cave, or simply explore the village and monasteries. Overnight in Manang.
Day 7 – Manang to Shree Kharka (4,045 m)
➾ Distance: 7–8 km | Duration: 4 hrs
A gradual ascent leads past Khangsar village with spectacular views of Gangapurna and Annapurna peaks. Arrive at Shree Kharka, a peaceful hamlet surrounded by barren mountains. Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 8 – Shree Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4,110 m)
➾ Distance: 6–7 km | Duration: 3 hrs
Short but adventurous trekking through precarious trails carved into cliffs. Watch for blue sheep along the rocky slopes. Arrive early at Tilicho Base Camp and rest for the challenging day ahead.
Day 9 – Tilicho Lake Excursion (4,919 m) – Return to Shree Kharka
➾ Distance: 18 km | Duration: 9–10 hrs
Start early (around 4:30 AM) for the steep climb to Tilicho Lake, the world’s highest glacial lake. Depending on the season, find it frozen or a shimmering blue oasis amidst snowfields. After time at the lake, return to Base Camp, rest, then trek back to Shree Kharka.
Day 10 – Shree Kharka to Ledar (4,240 m) via Yak Kharka (4,000 m)
➾ Distance: 13 km | Duration: 6–7 hrs
Climb steadily past grazing yaks and ruined settlements. Stop at Yak Kharka for lunch, then continue to Ledar, a small village with simple teahouses.
Day 11 – Ledar to High Camp (4,850 m) via Thorong Phedi (4,540 m)
➾ Distance: 6 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs
A steep but steady ascent leads to Thorong Phedi, the base of the pass. From here, climb to High Camp, reducing the next day’s climb. Accommodation is limited but cozy, with warm dining halls and breathtaking sunset views.
Day 12 – High Camp to Muktinath (3,765 m) via Thorong La Pass (5,416 m)
➾ Distance: 3.5 km ascent + 12 km descent | Duration: 6–7 hrs
The most challenging and rewarding day. Begin before sunrise to cross the legendary Thorong La Pass, adorned with prayer flags and breathtaking Himalayan panoramas. After brief celebrations at the summit, descend into the Kali Gandaki Valley to reach the sacred pilgrimage town of Muktinath. Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 13 – Muktinath to Jomsom (2,880 m) via Lubra

Explore Muktinath’s temples before trekking through the secluded Lubra Valley, with its unique Buddhist village and dramatic landscapes. Arrive in Jomsom, a bustling trade hub with lodges and an airport.
Day 14 – Jomsom to Pokhara (820 m)
➾ Distance: 160 km | Duration: 9 hrs drive
Take a scenic but bumpy drive down to Pokhara, Nepal’s lakeside city of adventure. Celebrate the completion of your trek with a lakeside dinner. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 15 – Buffer Day / Departure
A flexible day for rest, recovery, or weather delays. Continue your onward journey from Pokhara or return to Kathmandu.
